Adult and Community Education is supported by the NSW Department of Education and Communities through grants to community colleges across NSW. The Adult and Community Education (ACE) Unit in the Department promotes community education, supports funded community colleges and provides information and advice on community education across the state.

Dubbo's Western College has again taken out a major award for one of its innovative training programs, this time scooping the pool against the best in Australia.
In 2010 the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) provided funds for the ACE Unit to develop a framework document to further assist the ACE sector Australia wide to work with social inclusion clients.
The resulting document, incorporating research by Dr Kaye Bowman, draws lessons from existing literature, outlines the current policy space and suggests general principals and practice strategies to underpin the work of the sector.
A partnership between the Sydney Community College Skilled Migrant Mentoring Program and The Reed Group received the national 2010 Diversity at Work award for Employment and Inclusion of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Australians.
